A socket goes wherever the cable is easiest to run, so once the renovation is done it can end up out of reach: behind the fridge or the back of the sofa.
The socket is shifted with the furniture in mind: it sits to the side, within easy reach. A few seconds on the plan spare a freshly renovated wall from being broken open.
